In the Beginning….

Jon says, “God first started to speak to me about a new ministry in the summer of 2004. Having worked as the full-time Schools Worker of the Brighton and Hove City Mission for seven years, I left their employment at the start of 2005 to launch Turning The Tide.

“The vision that God has given me is still coming into focus! People ask me what TTT is all about and I say I don’t know what it is ALL about. But it is definitely about Jesus being at the centre and about us doing what He tells us to do and only what He tells us to do. As opportunities come up we make a point of praying each one through. We aim to keep this up all the more even when we are running hard in the work.

“TTT is about young people – children and teenagers. Having two children myself and having had the privilege of meeting some of their friends, and having ministered to many young people, God has given me a passion for them.”

We believe that the current young generation is a unique, end-time generation, which is why the devil has been out to destroy them in so many ways. I am sick and tired of seeing and hearing about the bad things that are happening to them as a generation. Hence ‘Turning The Tide’ is our name, our vision and our prayer.

What we do….

The key aim is to empower the Christian young people themselves to reach their own peers.

The way we aim to do this is to focus on these key areas of ministry:

  • Children in Prayer: One of Jon’s main focuses is to encourage children and teenagers in prayer. Recently he has been involved in the launch of a new Children’s Prayer Movement for the UK – it’s called ‘THE ROAR’. He regularly attends conferences and meetings both locally and globally and is constantly seeking new ways to support young people who are already praying for their friends, peers and nation.
  • Schools: we are available to both primary and secondaryschools for helping with assemblies, lessons and clubs. We have considerable experience in all these areas and weoffer a wide range of support to Christian teachers. We are particularly interested in working consistently in a school and developing our relationships there.
  • Camps:We have experience in leading and helping at camps for teenagers and children. We are particularly interested in discipling young people and encouraging them to get deeper in their relationships with God. We teach specifically about prayer and encourage young peopleto discover and use their gifting for His glory.
  • Churches: We are always happy to go to churches to support the youth work in whatever way is needed. We will speak to churches or their youth groups and we trainand encourage youth workers to support them in their important roles. We network with and support others involved in reaching out with the Gospel to the young especially.

In all we do we seek to glorify God and to see Him turn the tide of what is happening to this young generation.
